Digital Advertising Major Luke Wilson Awarded Manship Scholarship
Catapult is more than excited to announce the winner of our LSU Manship Scholarship! This semester’s winner is Baton Rouge native Luke Wilson.
Luke is pursuing not only one, but two degrees. He’s enrolled at LSU to receive a bachelor’s degree in Digital Advertising within the Manship School and Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS) within the E. J. Ourso College of Business. He is currently a fifth-year senior getting ready to graduate this December with his Digital Advertising degree. He will finish his undergrad education in May 2020 with his ISDS degree.
He discovered Catapult’s scholarship opportunity through AdFed’s Facebook page when Luke decided to “throw caution to wind” and apply.
His plans for his winnings include paying tuition for his last semester of undergrad education.
Luke admits his academic career hasn’t always been clear-cut. He began college as a political science major then switched to a political communication major before finding his calling in the Manship School’s Digital Advertising program.
“I didn’t really know what it [advertising] was exactly,” Luke said. Through learning about advertising, he discovered there was more to advertising than the creative aspect. He found his strength in the amount of detail analytics demanded. This realization led him to pursue ISDS as a second major.
After completing his undergraduate degrees, Luke plans on continuing school at LSU for another year to earn his master’s degree in Analytics. Although he isn’t completely sure where he’ll end up in the advertising industry, he would like to work for a big tech company like IBM.
Catapult’s scholarship is available to upperclassmen LSU Manship students. We encourage creative and visionary students with an interest in pursuing a career in advertising to apply each semester. We choose a winner who we believe has the most potential based on their application. All students have to do is fill out an application and answer a short essay prompt.
Catapult looks forward to reading through submissions every semester and seeing the passion we have for advertising reflected back from the students. As we see it, the least we could do is provide some financial support and help students gain the confidence to go above and beyond their goals.
